Also, I had finally used the MPerks at Meijer. I went today to claim my $5 off of a purchase of $5...it was super easy to use. Right before you swipe your credit/debit card/or pay, look at the bottom of the screen on the keypad. There is an MPerks button there. Click that and enter your account number/phone number. The savings will then be taken off! That easy!! :) I got a free $5! You can too if you sign up and use it before Wednesday, January 2nd!

Sunday Coupon Preview, MPerks, and other news!

I have recently become a fan of MPerks. Are any of you aware of this program?? It's through Meijer. It works kind of like the Kroger card in that you can upload coupons onto your account.  Just go here and select create an account. Your account will be your phone number.  When you first register, you will receive a coupon for $5 off your purchase of $5, if you join by 2/2/11!! That equals FREE stuff! Now, I haven't obtained this coupon yet because I just signed up last night, so I am not sure as to how this works. But it states that you enter in your account number ((your phone number)) into the keypad under the MPerks tab. I am very eager to try this out! I will let you all know how this works for me on my next Meijer trip. If any of you have tried this or are going to, let us know how it goes! This site also pairs really well with MeijerMealBox. I'm not sure how this will work, but as I've stated before, MeijerMealBox allows you to stack other coupons on top of these, so I don't see why you couldn't also do that with MPerks. :)

Oh, and a fan posted some information about getting money taken off for bringing in your own bags. I've seen this done when I used to work at a grocery store. You get $0.05 per bag. But I am pretty sure you have to remind the cashier to take the money off! And, I think this works at a few places. Check it out! Worth saving a few extra cents...every penny counts, right?? Also, if you notice an item has been scanned at the wrong price, take the item up to the service desk/customer service, and tell them about it. Also, if you are right, and it didn't scan as the right price, you are supposed to get $5 back for an inconvenience charge and for bringing it to their attention. This will also have to be reminded, no one likes to just hand you over money! Just a few tips! :)

Do any of you do Swagbucks?? Details about this later... :)

I've also come across a pretty neat website that tells you the coupons that will be coming in the Sunday paper. I have the link here for anyone who wants to bookmark this. I have also provided a list below.

A few Kroger matchups. 1/24-1/30

I was browsing through the Kroger ad, and I came across a few good deals using coupons. Now, I hope everyone has signed their Kroger card up at Kroger.com.  If you haven't yet, I really recommend you do it, especially if you shop at Kroger.

So, here's a few:

Kroger is having their buy 10, get $5 off deal again. These deals are usually really good with coupons. I've spotted a few.

Crest toothpaste- On sale-$2. Coupon for $1 off one. Makes this FREE! PLUS, you can download a coupon onto your card from Kroger.com for $0.75 off one. This equals a moneymaker!

Oscar Meyer lunchmeat-$2.79. Coupon for $1 off one. Makes this $0.79! If you don't have this coupon, visit coupons.com to print one! :)

Tampax-$2.99. Coupon for $1 off one. Makes this $0.99! Plus, $1 off one on Kroger.com. Makes this FREE!

Pampers Jumbo Pack- $8.99. Coupon for $1 off one. Makes this $6.99.  PLUS, Kroger.com has a coupon for $1 off one. Makes this $5.99. Good deal for diapers! :)

So, I've mentioned the site, coupons.com, this is a great site to browse through every once in a while. They offer really good coupons that can be printed and used in store. Other good sites are:  redplum.com, smartsource.com, grocerycouponnetwork.com, shortcuts.com ((which offers both printable and electronic coupons. You can load the electronic to your Kroger card.)), and Meijermealbox.com, which are used at Meijer. These coupons can be combined with another coupon, it states this right below the coupon.

Any questions?? ASK!

Follow these steps and you're on your way to saving money!

Alright, so...I feel like I've been getting ahead of myself. I forget that all of my readers are beginners. So, I apologize! This blog is a very short step by step guide to get you started on your couponing adventure.  If you are serious about clipping coupons, I feel like these steps are EXTREMELY NECESSARY!!

Step 1: You need to purchase a coupon organizer.  If you are serious about this, you need to get organized to make this an easier process. If your coupons aren't organized into categories; frozen, dairy, snacks, canned, health and beauty, cleaners, etc ((these are just example categories. You can choose whichever are more convenient for you!)), then your shopping adventure will be chaotic and horrible. You will want to give up. You will miss or misplace coupons. This is a very important step, please do not skip it.  I have recently just purchased a new organizer ((last week actually)) from Target in the dollar bin, for only $1!! It's not perfect, but it'll do for now. It has 7 slots for coupons and comes with the stickers to label them.  You can get a nicer one that looks more like a wallet if you are willing to spend $10-$20 on one.

Step 2:  You also need to purchase a small notebook to use as your grocery list notebook. This is another very important step, because like I had stated in Step 1, you need to be organized! This can be an old notebook that you don't use anymore, or the dollar store has them for only $1. I recommend it being small enough to store in your purse or your pocket.

Step 3:  Also, subscribing to the Flint Journal is important. Unless you just pick it up every Sunday...You can get just the Sunday paper, or you can also get the Thursday and Friday paper... I'm pretty sure it's the same price for just getting the Sunday paper as it is to get the Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. So, whichever you'd rather do. I get all 3 and I only pay $10.89 a month for it to be delivered and at my door before I'm even awake.  My Sunday routine:  My husband reading the paper while I'm clipping coupons and browsing through the ads with a pot of coffee <33

If you have ANY questions about ANYTHING, PLEASE do not hesitate to ask. You can contact me via email: couponchickblog@gmail.com, on my CouponChick facebook page, or by simply leaving a comment under this blog.  I REALLY REALLY REALLY want everyone to understand this stuff. After all, I'm doing this for all of you.

My Kroger trip--December 29, 2010

First off, I just want to mention that I am a full blown Kroger shopper. I feel that the best deals are found there.  But, I only shop there for my stockpile items, like those shown in the pictures below.  I shop at Meijer for my meat and produce.  I really like Meijer, BUT they only double up to $0.50, ((which can still make for some pretty awesome deals)) whereas my Kroger, here in Michigan, doubles up to $1.00! This makes a lot of items FREE!

Pictured above is everything I came home with, minus a gallon of milk, Tennessee Pride Sausage Gravy, Cascade Action Pacs, and GE light-bulb that are not pictured. My total before coupons was $164 ((this was including taking off $24.00 for the P&G $4.00 off when buying participating products, I was able to snag 6 of these, or 24 participating products.  If you have no idea about these offers, ask! ))...after my coupons the total was only $11.45!!

REMEMBER!!! Kroger double's the $1 coupons!!

Getting started...

Hello! I'm Ashley, or Coupon Chick.  To give you all a little information about myself; I am 24 years old and I have been married for 3 and a half years ((YES, that "half" is very important, lol)).

The purpose of this blog is to help you save a bit of money by using, you guessed it, COUPONS! My fascination with coupons first started when I was a little girl...I had always loved going grocery shopping with my mother ((when she went without me, I'd get mad at her, haha)) and seeing how much money she would save using coupons.  She was always really good with using them and on one excursion had saved over half her bill ((over $100!! WOW!)). Ever since then I'd help her with clipping them and I became fascinated. This has lasted and has now become more of a hobby. I have told people about my savings, and even posted pictures.  After an overwhelming response from the pictures, I decided to blog about my hobby and give you the knowledge of how you can do it, too!

I would really appreciate any comments that you have about my blog, whether positive or negative.
